Bitumen Waterproofing: (Torch on)
Bituminous roofing products are perfect for the waterproofing of roofs on buildings as they move with the structure and are not too rigid, and do not absorb water. Bitumen is a hydrocarbon and is created naturally from crude oil. It is a useful carbon store and does not generate greenhouse gases. The membranes are therefore a sustainable way of storing carbon on the Earth’s surface.
Advantages of using bitumen based waterproofing products:
As well as protecting buildings, bituminous roofing products can be in harmony with their environmental surroundings as different mineral finishes can be applied to the top surfaces.
The products have an extremely long life span.
The fumes given off during installation are not harmful to human health and there is low noise pollution during application.
Bituminous membranes protect insulation and can reflect harmful sun rays.
Bitumen is not water soluble, non-biodegradable and does not release harmful toxins.
Having served the Waterproofing Industry successfully for the past 18 years and being associated to the Industry for 17 years, we are represented by Masters Builders Association and the Waterproofing Association of South Africa with the dedication to both the present and future of the above Industry.
Tsholingo Waterproofing Contracters : is a registered level 3 BEE company with 110% procurement recognition.
WATERPROOFING:In building construction, a structure needs waterproofing since concreteitself will not be watertight on its own (but note concrete is easily waterproofed with additives). The conventional system of waterproofing involves ‘membranes‘. This relies on the application of one or more layers of membrane (available in various materials: e.g., bitumen, silicate, PVC, EPDM etc.) that act as a barrier between the water and the building structure, preventing the passage of water. However, the membrane system relies on exacting application, presenting difficulties. Problems with application or adherence to the substrate can lead to leakage.
